Hello Sew for TO community. Sew for TO was founded to assist the community in solving the acute shortage of PPE during COVID-19. Our goal was to create and distribute non-medical reusable masks, scrub caps and ear savers to first responders, essential services and the community at large. To date, over 18,000+ items have been created and delivered thanks to our village of 200+ volunteers.
As the non-medical supply of PPEs improves with local and international manufacturing, it is with measured consideration that we pivot our operations to scale down production. As such, the LAST DAY to place a request for masks and ear savers is JUNE 12. We will be providing transition options on the site to ensure no organization or volunteers are left behind. Please stay tuned for more information. Please continue to place your requests until June 12th . Thank you.
Sew for TO is a volunteer community group working to get non-medical masks, surgical caps, and ear savers into the hands of medical workers, long-term caregivers, vulnerable community members and others in Toronto during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We work with donors of fabric and material, sewists and volunteer drivers to boost the supply of masks in Toronto and connect it with the growing demand.
All of our work is on a volunteer basis and we give our masks away for free. Anyone in need of masks, as well as anyone who would like to donate materials, sew masks or make deliveries can find the information on this site.
